I bought the xbox 360 off my cousin after it started getting red rings. Having fixed quite a few xbox 360s with the X clamp fix, I figured I’d give it a shot and took the thing apart, put some new heatsink paste on, and applied the x clamp fix. That was a year ago today… welp sorry to say the red rings are back again and this time they mean business. I tried the penny fix, I tried some new arctic silver heat sink grease and nothing. My Xbox 360 finally gave up and left this world.
Luckily there is a guy on ebay selling new xenon motherboards with matching dvd pcbs. At about 50 dollars shipped I should soon have her up and running again… also I went ahead and ordered a generation 2 gpu heatsink for the new board. If there is one thing I’ve learned about electronics over the years of working on just about anything I can get my hands on is, you can’t keep them cool enough.
I’m curious if any of you guys have repaired your xbox 360s red ring of death and found that it came back for good one day?
