I recently ran into a real headache trying to update my bios on my HP Omnidesk S03-0013w, this worked on my HP Elitedesk and also my HP Slim S01-pF2003wb.
Tools you will need, 2x USB Flash Drives, your PC serial Number off the bottom sticker, and you might want to open up the PC and check to see what brand your SSD is if you want to update that too.
Download your PC bios and possibly the firmware for your SSD from HP support. Put the file(s) it gives you on a spare flash drive, get another spare flash drive and put Hirens USB tool on it. I keep a USB drive with Hirens ready to go at all times, it has a ton of useful utitlities for system maintanence.
Boot up Hirens, it will take several mins to load into WinPE 11 and I ran the bios update .exe file from a second usb flash drive. The program will load some files into a HP_TOOLS partition on your SSD or HDD then it will reboot and load update bios on its own.
If you don’t have a hp tools partition, like I did with one of my machines, It will probably try and fail. That’s ok, just create a 300mb Fat32 partition at the end of whatever your boot storage is and name it HP_TOOLS with no drive letter.
After I manually created the partition, the update .exe ran fine and loaded the new bios.
