This thing is an absolute animal, hasn’t failed me yet. It can even take down one of those crazy T Rex looking things with just a few shots.

About the Show
Misfits follows five outsiders on community service who get struck by a flash storm and lumbered with special powers.

Hard as nails Kelly (Lauren Socha) can suddenly hear people’s thoughts, shamed sporting hero Curtis (Nathan Stewart Jarrett) discovers he has the ability to turn back time when he regrets something, and party girl Alisha (Antonia Thomas) can send people into a sexual frenzy when they touch her skin. Even painfully shy Simon (Iwan Rheon) can make himself invisible when he feels he’s being ignored, which makes it all the more hard to swallow for smart aleck Nathan (Robert Sheehan), who seems to have been unaffected, much to his dismay.

Unlike their more conventional counterparts, our misfits don’t swap their ankle tags and mobile phones for capes and tights. Instead, they discover what a pain in the arse life can be when you’re stuck with a super power you didn’t want.

Where to Watch
Find it on Hulu or at E4.

My Take
I just got done watching all three seasons and I must say, I was completely hooked on this show. The characters are dynamic and the acting was top notch. Rarely is there a show where I can watch 5 episodes in a row and not get sick of it… Misfits is definitely on the top of my list of.. now just have to wait till the next season comes out .

I bought the xbox 360 off my cousin after it started getting red rings. Having fixed quite a few xbox 360s with the X clamp fix, I figured I’d give it a shot and took the thing apart, put some new heatsink paste on, and applied the x clamp fix. That was a year ago today… welp sorry to say the red rings are back again and this time they mean business. I tried the penny fix, I tried some new arctic silver heat sink grease and nothing. My Xbox 360 finally gave up and left this world.

Luckily there is a guy on ebay selling new xenon motherboards with matching dvd pcbs. At about 50 dollars shipped I should soon have her up and running again… also I went ahead and ordered a generation 2 gpu heatsink for the new board. If there is one thing I’ve learned about electronics over the years of working on just about anything I can get my hands on is, you can’t keep them cool enough.

I’m curious if any of you guys have repaired your xbox 360s red ring of death and found that it came back for good one day?

Just a couple of thoughts I wanted to share about my experience with the new HomeFront game by THQ. This is only my opinion and it applies only to the PC version of the game… I just can’t get myself to play an FPS on the Xbox 360 or the PS3.

Pros

A new take on an old genre… Fighting takes place in the States.

Most of the battles were pretty epic.

Plethora of different firearms.

Vehicle/Air missions help add variety.

Cons

Performance was inconsistent, I would have random pops and clicks from the audio, and the game would also stutter pretty badly resulting in a few lag deaths.

No Demo? There should at least be a MP demo or something… it’s a bit ridiculous not to include one.

Single Player was extremely short… took me somewhere between 3-4 hours to beat.

Even though there were a lot of weapons to choose from, they didn’t feel or shoot very differently.

Conclusion
It was pretty fun… I love a good FPS and it was nice to see an FPS based in the States where you play a US insurgent. The controls felt pretty good, and the mixture of vehicle and air missions was much needed. However, this is not a $50 dollar game, it was short, glitchy, and there was no demo. I’d say it’s worth somewhere around $30.

I was walking through CVS last night grabbing all the cough medicine and Afrin I could carry, no I’m not a drug cook just really sick, when I happened across this little beauty. I had been looking for a laptop tray table to use in bed, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money as I’ve never had one before and didn’t know If I would like it. Well this one by Home Exclusives caught my eye, at $14.99 I figured what the heck, I’ll give it a shot!

For the past few nights, to my surprise, I have been very pleased with it… now it’s not anything fantastic, it has its flaws.

By the way, that is my Asus N10J-A2 Netbook in the photo, for size reference.

Pros

Made out of wood with a nice dark finish (My camera made it look light cherry, but it is more like a cocoa powder color).

Light and thin and can fold up nicely and slide under the bed.

Has a tilt function and has a lip on it to hold things in place.

Also has an area for your mouse if you have one.

Cons

The wood is most likely particle board.

The lip wasn’t glued in ( So I’ll have to re-glue it).

You have to reach around behind it to set the tilt height.

The legs don’t lock to the open or closed position.

Conclusion
I am digging it so far, I have to re-glue the lip on, but that’s an easy fix. Also I think If I tighten the screws that hold the legs on I can add more tension to them so they stay open and closed better. For $15 dollars plus change I’m pretty happy with this purchase, I know now that I like using the laptop tray table and maybe someday I’ll even upgrade to a more expensive one when this one gives out. Until then happy computing!

Having trouble accessing your WDTVLive over the network? or any other computers for that matter?

I have the bare minimum of services running on my Windows 7 machine and found I was having issues seeing other shared folders and devices in my network workgroup. I found that by just turning on the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service, I was able to see and access all the shared devices on my network. By the way I don’t use Homegroup or care for it at all and have it disabled in my services. This fix also seems to work on Windows XP as well.

A quick way to check your services is to type “services.msc” without the quotes into your Start Menu>Run box. Try it out and see if it fixes your network woes.

This is for Windows Mobile 6.x Phones. You don’t need any custom roms either.

How does a few days of usage on a single charge sound?

After my Sprint HTC Touch Pro kicked the bucket, I had to go about setting up my replacement phone. Unfortunately I couldn’t remember all the settings and roms I was using so I had to basically start from scratch. The first rom I tried was the EnergyRom, but the battery life using that rom was abysmal… I could only get 4-5 hours out of the phone and that was with extreme minimum usage and bluetooth/data disabled. That definitely was not going to work for me, so after a few days of trying different radios and roms I happened across MightyRom6 and so far so good. I also Am using the Telus Radio which has been decent and no problems so far. With the tweaks and cabs I’ve listed below I have been able to get my Touch Pro to last for a few days at a time on a single charge… amazing.

Install programs that you run frequently to the internal memory instead of your memory card. Also keeping your ram clear of programs will help battery life.

Maxx134 Battery Saver Polling Interval – Not sure what it does exactly, I think it lowers the amount of polling it does to see how much battery power is remaining.

Ninja Duck Disable DRV – Smartcard and TVOUT – Disables Smartcard and TVOUT functions on your phone if you don’t need them.

shaolin BatterySaver – Don’t know what it does but it sounds really sneaky.

Wei Enterprises nueDynamicClock – This wonderful little app will lower your phone’s cpu speed when not in use, therefore saving precious battery power.

DrSigStat – An Application that shows current battery draw statistics and makes an educated guess on how much power is left.

I zipped everything up except for the Telus Radio and MightyRom6 you can find those at PPCgeeks.com

I recently ran into a problem where I couldn’t get any of my usb devices to be recognized in VirtualBox on my fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat. The fix was incredibly easy and didn’t involve any need to edit any registry or etc/fstab files.

All you need to do is make sure you’re not running the Open Source Edition of VirtualBox, and make sure you have the most updated version of VirtualBox. I am running version 3.2.10 r66523. After you update VirtualBox, reinstall the Guest Additions in your system so they’re updated as well. Then go on your Ubuntu setup go into System>Administration>Users and Groups>Manage Groups and make sure your user name is added to the “vboxusers” user group.

Do a quick reboot and Voila, you should now be able to select usb devices from within your VirtualBox system.

Some games were built to be played with a gamepad not a keyboard and mouse, ie: Prototype GFW. I found a nice little solution to make games think my nice little 7 dollar Dilong gamepad is an official Xbox360 gamepad. Here is a great way to use software to emulate an Xbox360 Controller for your pc. Why would you want to do that? you ask, well some games like Prototype and Assassins Creed are ports of xbox 360 games, so they already have built in support for the PC version Xbox 360 Controller. So basically with this hack you won’t have to do a whole lot of messing about to get your configs right.

Follow the Steps below to get your gamepad to emulate a xbox controller.

Download the Xbox360 Controller Emulator.

Extract the x360ce.ini, xinput1_3.dll, and XInputTest.exe files to the directory of the game you want to use the controller in. The same folder as the game executible.

Plug in the gamepad you will be using.

Run XInputTest.exe and check to make sure your buttons are mapped correctly. If they’re not, open the xbox360cemu.ini file and change around the mappings till it works. Here is the ini file (x360ce), that works with my Dilong USB Dual Shocks Gamepad.

Enjoy gaming again. If your game still doesn’t work with your controller try putting the dinput8.dll file in the game directory also. I had a problem with Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2010 giving me a error code (That controller has not been setup please go to controls menu in Gameplay to configure it). As soon as I put the dinput8.dll file in there it worked fine.

I really love this little hack, the reason being, there is no program running in the background sucking up resources. It’s just a couple of files and a dll and blammo, instant controller emulation. How great is that!

I hope this little tutorial helped you out, if it did a comment would much be appreciated.
